Autism | Heart and Hand for the Handicapped

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how a person interacts with others, communicates, learns, and behaves. It begins early in childhood and lasts throughout a person’s lifetime.

Autistic children need intensive behavior modification, speech therapy and special education. A donation of $200 will provide an autistic child with speech therapy and special education in school for a year.

Here is a peek into a few of the organizations we support to empower children with Autism.

Organizations We Support for Polio/Cerebral Palsy

1. Academy for Severe Handicaps & Autism (ASHA), Bangalore, India

Focuses on providing education and training to children with Autism
Provides remedial training to children with learning problems from mainstream schools
Gives short-term training to parents and teachers on the management of Autism
Initiated a program “Enhancing Social Skills in children with Autism” (HHH supported) - Enhance social skills in 15 children with Autism
HHH Role: Continue to support the “Enhancing Social Skills” program

2. Anchal Charitable Trust, Delhi, India

Supports the needs of children with intellectual disabilities including Autism
Center managed by a dedicated team that provides special education and rehabilitation to these children
HHH Role: Continue to support the Center and providing special education to children with Autism

3. Akshaya Kshetram - Autism

Provides full-time residential care
Focused on preventive health and well-being
Provides medical support, physiotherapy and recreational activities
Supports over 120 children with learning disabilities
HHH Role: Provide an annual commitment to support care and medical therapy for these children
