Heart and Hand for the Handicapped (HHH) remembers with deep gratitude and affection Padma Hiranandani Reichwald (1944–2026), whose remarkable dedication to HHH and its mission spanned more than four decades.
Padma Ji’s journey with HHH began in 1979, and she joined the Executive Committee in 1980. Over the years, she served HHH in numerous leadership capacities, including multiple terms as President, becoming an inspiring and guiding presence within the organization.
Having experienced polio herself, Padma Ji had a deeply personal connection to the challenges faced by people with disabilities. In 1999, she launched HHH’s Polio Initiative, channeling her own experiences into a mission to help children gain greater mobility, independence, dignity, and hope.
Padma Ji was much more than a leader. She was a mentor, advocate, friend, and inspiration to generations of HHH volunteers. Her compassion, determination, and unwavering commitment encouraged many others to join the cause and continue serving children with disabilities.

Her Legacy Lives On
Padma Ji’s impact will forever remain part of HHH. It lives through the children and families whose lives she helped change, the people she inspired, and the organization she helped strengthen.
Her journey with us may have ended, but her spirit of service will continue to guide and inspire the HHH family for generations to come.
